[Solved] Change Username

Post by philll3T2Gm »

Thanks for this programme. I have used it from time to time, for more than 10 years. Incredible, and a blessing to have the use of it.

I want to know how to use it better and joined this forum. But I ended up with an unintended email address and username. I have searched around for ages, and I mean ages, but then again I do everything like this.

I found the info below and am trying to get some help, please.
About your account

There are 3 topics in the Site Feedback section covering most of the cases:

What do I do if I can't successfully register on the Forum?
How do I delete my forum account if I no longer need it?
How do I delete a mailing list subscription?

As for the username:

You should avoid to use your mail address because the spam bots crawling the web will be able to automatically register your address.
If you want to change your username, you have to ask an Admin (by PM for example). Users are not allowed to change it, this is intended.
PM

We are sorry, but you are not authorised to use this feature. You may have just registered here and may need to participate more to be able to use this feature.

You can change your username by using User Control Panel, linked near the top left of any OO Forum window. Use Profile Tab, and "Edit Account settings" link on left when that tab opens.

Actually, standard users can't do that.

You may have to post a single message to be able to use the PM feature. Just try again the PM and if still no luck, send a mail to the forum admin mail (aoo.forum.en<at>gmail.com) with the desired user name.
