Making a Flyer w/ Text and Image

Post by JSeth »

Hello folks...

I am a near-complete dork with many-things-computer, and I have a question about creating a flyer for my music gigs... I searched this but did not find the answer I need.

I have a photo that I've modified with a "neon" look - so it's more of a graphic, at this point. I opened the graphic from my desktop into AOO, and now, I'm trying to figure out how to a) make the graphic fill the page (8 1/2" x 11") and b) add text, in various sizes... ie., my name, instruments, type of music, etc... c) I want to leave a space where I can edit the date/time/location for each different show.

Given that I'm pretty much a beginner with this stuff, am I getting in Way over my head with this project?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated, as I am currently without my usual "computer-whiz" cohort...

a) make the graphic fill the page (8 1/2" x 11")
- Switch the Header and the Footer OFF in a Writer page, and then set the margins to 0 value.
- Import the picture into the document and send it to the background.
- Type-in the text and format them with different paragraph / character styles. You can adjust the font type/size, colors, alignment (etc...), indents and spaces in the Styles.

Note: Most of the printers can not print a document with 0 margins. They will cut some content of the document at the "invisible borders" of the page.
