Change of Appearance of a Document

Post by SandraHolland »

When I open a document, either a new one or one I have already created, the page is now inset within a blank page. I must have altered something but I am not sure what. Please can anyone help?

Change the % factor in /View /Zoom.

Unfortunately this didn't solve the problem. I have tried to upload a screen shot but the file size is too large.

Is this the way your document looks?

It is similar, in that it is inset within another page but there is a much larger area around the edge of my document and it is white. I can still see the rulers.

Either put your screenshot on a filesharing site and post the URL here, or resample it in an image editor so it is smaller.

To get your page centred on the screen, there are three little icons on the Status bar of OO, at bottom right. Click on the leftmost icon, a single page icon. If these icons and the Status bar doesn't show turn it on with /View /Status bar. To turn the outer page from white to the usual grey, use /Tools /Options /OpenOffice : Appearance. In the general section of that (it is at the top) click on the "Application background" button and select "Automatic"; you can of course change this selection to any colour you like. Then use the /View /Zoom or the % box in bottom right of OO window to scale your page to whatever you desire. My preference is usually for "Page width", but you may prefer something different.

Thank you for your help. I have tried this and it helps but I have to do this to every document and I am still not sure why it suddenly changed to this. I will manage with it and appreciate all the time you have spent on this.

You can try to reset your OpenOffice user profile to start from a fresh profile.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the edit button if your issue has been fixed.
