Why does OpenOffice not allow use of the microphone?

Hi,

Why does Open Office not allow the use of a mike, especially in 'Write'?

As a double stroke survivor, use of my hands is severely limited... It would
be so much easier to speak my text rather than doing a hunt and peck
type method, at least for writing!

While Open Office doesn't have this ability built in, there are software products (I use and can recommend Dragon Naturally Speaking) which do incorporate with Open Office allowing one to dictate and, in some cases, even enable Open Office to read documents aloud.

I will Dragon, again! It has given me problems ever since the install,
can't even find it on my computer - again

On a Mac, the "Dictation" feature of the operating system works with many applications, including Open Office. Perhaps your operating system provides a similar feature. We do not know what operating system you use so it is difficult to help you. You should put that information in your signature. Fix your forum signature in User Control Panel → Profile → Edit Signature.
