Web addresses opening in LibreOffice instead of browser

Hi,
I teach online and my school uses Blackboard class connect. One of my students uses Liberoffice and every time he clicks a web link posted on the white board or in the chat in Blackboard it opens in a Liberoffice document instead of in a browser. His default programs are set correctly so do any of you know why Liberoffice is overriding the default settings and hijacking the web links?

I suggest you look again at the default settings for web pages, as the description of the behaviour provided matches having a default setting of LibreOffice (presumably Writer) to handle html documents.

Note that the operating system*, Windows, Mac, etc manages what type of file is opened by what application.

* Strictly speaking it is the window manager, but that is another level of complexity
