[Solved] Date-number-auto change?

Post by jmdraft »

I’m using a spread sheet for credit card data. In one column I need the expiration date which is two numbers e.g. 3/16.
In another column I need the security code (usually on back of card) which is most often three numbers e.g. 123.

When I enter the expiration date, it is auto-changed to show the current year at the end e.g. 3/16/15. I don’t want the 15.
How do I get rid of it?

Sometimes the security code has a 0 (zero) in front. When I enter the three numbers, including the zero in front, the zero is deleted. Now, I am dealing with this by spelling the zero and then the following numbers-but don’t like it………can’t copy and paste. How can I keep the 0 (number) from being deleted?

Assuming you just need to record the data, format the columns as text before you enter anything, then enter both as usual. In this situation, Calc will not change anything: the entry will remain just as you typed it.

If you need to analyze the data, for example, calculate expiration state or sort the data by expiration date, the situation gets a bit more complicated.

Click "EDIT" on your first post for this topic. Type [Solved] at the start of the subject line & submit.

Sorry, no. It's just text: you type it in the subject field.

You can change the icon to the green check if you want.
