OpenOffice 4.0 and .wpd files

I recently downloaded Version 4.0 to my computer using Windows 7. I had been using the previous version of OpenOffice. I have several text documents that are WPD files(.WPD). Those docs that I had worked with and saved as OpenDocumentText(.odt) on the previous version work just fine with 4.0. However, the remaining docs I cannot view, they will open but contain meaningless lines of symbols. Is there a solution to this problem? Would uninstalling 4.0 and reloading the previous version work?

As far as I know the WPD filters were removed in AOO 4.0 because of licensing issues. If you must continue to work in WPD format, reinatall AOo 3.4.1; if you can move away from WPD, use www.zamzar.com to transfer your files to .odt format.
