Adding a text box (mail merge) to an existing .pdf file

I need to find a way to add and mail merge text box to a customer provided .pdf file (I am mailing postcards for my customers). Too many of my clients don't know how to 'unlock' the files they send me, and I cannot afford to buy the Adobe programs that might do this. Can I use Open Office Draw to add this text box without losing any detail or resolution from the provided files? I currently have to use 3 passes through my laser printer to do this.
