OpenOffice 3.4.1. on windows 8
Re: Compatibility Question
You can save from OpenOffice in .doc format. Use /File /Save As, drop the file type selector to MS Office 97/2000/XP and check the "automatic file name extension" box. All current versions of MS Word read .doc files.
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.15 on Xubuntu 22.04.4 LTS
Re: Compatibility Question with MS Office
You better distribute your documents as PDF which is readable on any platform.
If, and only if, the receipient is supposed to edit your document with Microsoft Word you may send .doc files.
I prefer plain text for collaboration. Plain text makes everything as easy as can be.
