in /File /Save As drop down file type selector to MS Office 97/2000/XP type and make sure "Automatic file type extension" is checked. You get a message saying that there may be format changes; if you don't want to risk these use MS office.

Note that AOO cannot save in OOXML (.docx, .xlsx, ...). This format has not really been designed to be compatible with anything else than MS Office. Either work in native AOO format (ODF) or stick to MS Office.

Please add '[Solved]' at the beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

LibreOffice 3.6 or later can save in .docx format; however, as with other conversions, it may be lacking: try it and see if you are comfortable with the outcome.

As has been pointed out, the only sure way to a .docx compatible product is to be locked in into M$ Office. Educate the recipients of your conversions about AOO/LO.

Good luck...
