[Solved] Default browser when clicking hyperlinks

Post by kitfox »

When generating a hyperlink, is it possible to change the default browser to something other than IE?
Thank you

Hello and welcome to the forum!

I believe the default browser in Windows is a system setting, not a setting performed in OOo. You would need to go into Control Panel > Internet Options to change it.
OOo 3.3.0, Windows 7 64-bit SP1, planning to add LibreOffice after a bug-fix version of 3.4 is released.
Has your question been answered? Please go back to the message at the top of the thread and mark it as [SOLVED].

If you mean can you specify in the link which browser to use to open that link, then the answer is no.

I would like to have a hyperlink open a browser other than IE. Before posting, I checked my control panel internet options and was only able to uncheck the box to tell me if IE was not the default browser (programs tab). Is there a location where I can change the browser option?
Thanks

Do you have (is there installed) an another browser on your PC?
When you start it, it will ask: The "xyz" browser is not the default. Do you want to set it as default?

Thanks for some guidance. I found the answer! Each different browser has a question during install that asks if you want to use that browser as your default browser. Simply check yes and you are set. I also have found that in both FireFox and Chrome, there is a question in the 'tools/options' menu that asks if you want to set that browser as your default.
