OpenOffice.org does not read PDF files unless you use an extension intended for very limited editing. If you want to read (but not edit) PDF files, you can use a free reader program. Adobe, the owner of the PDF format, has a free reader and there are others. If you want to edit PDF files, I think you have to purchase the Adobe software.
