Online editing

Hi,

Microsoft Office is getting the ability to edit documents on a remote server. Is this something that OpenOffice offers.

I ask because I develop web services with document merge / management. One of the main problems I am having is that currently word documents are created on my service and downloaded to the user. If the user then wants to edit that document they need to save it to a particular location where a service uploads it back to my web server. It would be great if the user could edit the document directly on the server then just click "save" to save any changes.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

I don't think it is scheduled. For such request, see [Tutorial] Reporting bugs or suggestions.

But for the moment, OOo is to be run locally on a machine. I think there are still too much bugs to be fixed until tackling with such a new feature.
AOO 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 19.10 and 4.1.5 on Windows 10 (with winPenPack port).
