Email rejected when trying to register

I tried to registrate myself as a user for OOo. Unfortunately SUN believes my email address has a bad format...whatever thats supposed to mean. Of course I checked the spelling of my email address not only once...

What can I do to convince SUN that the email address given is correct?

Hi and welcome to the forums.

That's strange. You don't have to register to use the software though, so if you can't get it to work, just say you don't want to register and for now, and go through without registration. Everything in the software will still work.

If you do that, then you can also try registering on the OOo website: OpenOffice.org.
