[Solved] Does OpenOffice have two forums?

Postby akyahoo » Tue Jan 13, 2009 6:01 am

OpenOffice.org Forum at OOoForum.org
http://www.oooforum.org

Is it another forum of OpenOffice?

Yes, these are two different forums, though some people are prominent on both. They are staffed by community volunteers, not by the OOo organization. There is also a forum named 8daysaweek (or something close to that).
Windows 10 and Linux Mint, since 2017

I wonder whether the two forum administors and managers do not want to give up their own rights.

Well... one difference here on this forum is that it is community run and managed. The forum software is hosted on one of the openoffice.org servers in a Sun datacenter in Hamburg, Germany. The forum admin, moderation, updates, management etc is all done by volunteers. The core admin team are a few of the people who have been involved from the beginning of the forum launch. Surrounding that is a team of volunteers who have moderator and admin rights.

So with this forum, any community member can participate in the maintenance and management. There is no single admin, moderator or owner. This model seems to be working quite well here too :-)
