Computer meltdown

Hello everyone, making a long story short, my computer was about to die so I saved on disk the local folder file from Thunderbird, it has 200 megs of info. I pasted the file back to replace the new empty file but... All the files are there except for the email it contained. I can't believe that the files alone can be 200 megs, why are the email etc. not contained. Is there a way of doing this as I cannot find an import program within Thunderbird.

Thank you for your help

Guy

Hi,

I think you should post in the Thunderbird forums. What have you tried exactly? I do that sometimes when I need to transfer a profile to another machine. I just copy the user profile from the old machine to the new one and it works fine. Better replace the whole root directory instead of copying the files.

The mail cannot be read directly, they're put in a kind of container for each account.
