Whatever you do, don't press the red button!

Post by ThomasH »

I was browsing around and I ran across something that I found more than a little interesting. Apparently you can apply to become a member of a group of users. There's a volunteers group , an apache watchers group , and even a banned user group. Should I even ask what happens if you apply to the banned user group? I'd apply and promise to report back with my findings but somehow I don't think you'd be hearing back from me. A proverbial red button to be sure!

you apply to the banned user group?
You'll join a fine group of dedicated workers struggling to expand everyone's knowledge of matters as diverse as weight control supplements or, ahem, personal enlargement methods, to list just a couple.

In plain english, they're spammers and they can no longer access the forum.

I'm happy to accept your application; would you just like a short trial period, or do you want the lifetime subscription

My recommendation, based on what I've read, avoid that group at all costs...while a free lifetime subscription normally sounds like a great deal, in this situation I would pass.

In fact, you can apply, the admin receives the request by mail and then he grants it or not. So no red button at all.
I've slightly changed the description of the groups.

Hagar, you anticipated what I was going to suggest after seeing OP's screen capture.

In theory we do, but admission would be based on an assessment of the applicant's posting history.

Maybe the Groucho Marx rule should apply: "I wouldn't want to be a member of any club that would have me"!

Got lost on an Elixir deep dive. Functional programming is the future folks. Pretty streaky in general, I'm probably not great volunteer material.
