Please offer some guidance if possible.

I am shortly getting a mac and plan to put open office on it.

Will i be able to import old ms office documents. I know in windows. open office could open ms office docs. But cross platform not sure!

Any advise would be appreciated!

Thanks neil

The "cross-platform" is the main concept behind OOo. I can open M$Office documents on Linux, you will be able to do that on Mac too.
Very soon will be released OOo version 3, with native support for Mac/Acqua. The rc1 is already available on some mirrors.
