How to download a .csv file from the web

Post by advansa »

I'm trying to download a chart from a website. Clicking the download button shows that it is a .csv file. When I click Download a box appears. At this point I don't know what to do or which Open Office program to open it in.

If I make a selection in that box and it's not what I want how do I change the setting?

First, you say you are trying to download a chart and it is in CSV format. The CSV file will not contain a chart, but will contain data from which a chart might be created.

Save the file; then double click it and OpenOffice will open it with whatever application has been set as the default for CSV files - most likely Calc. If you wish to open it with a specific application, right click and select e.g. Calc

User guides are available for all the OpenOffice modules at
https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation
Chapter 1 of the Calc Guide has a section on "Opening CSV files".
Chapter 3 is devoted to Charts and Graphs.
