Export/Save as ePub

Post by Gwaredd Thomas »

As a new feature, it would be really great if OO had a provision for exporting in an ePub format. I use Calibre and I have to convert an ePub file into an AZW3 and then load it onto my Kindle PW.

Or, is there something of which I'm not aware?

Cheers!

Calibre can directly read an OpenOffice .odt file and convert it to almost any other format for a Kindle. I have used .odt to ePub and Mobi on my Kindle.

The fine tuning of the conversion of an .odt file to some other format by Calibre is carried out by selection of options in Calibre. This may take a little research and experimentation, but the final result can be quite successful.

Rory,

Thank much mate; it's really appreciated, I had no idea.

I would suggest the following solutions:
1. Instead of ePub, export to FB2 using OOoFBTools. Then convert using Calibre.
2. Jailbreak your Kindle (if possible for the particular model) and install CoolReader. This program understands a variety of file formats.
3. Finally, buy a better device that does not restrict your freedom.
