Hi everyone, I have a suggestion for OpenOffice project. I think that Apache software foundation should re-write OpenOffice using Java technology. There are converters available which can convert C/C++ code to Java code. Most of the Apache software foundation projects uses Java platform and technology. The next major release of OpenOffice should be developed using Java technology because it will make it easier to maintain and improve OpenOffice.

The code is available through links on
http://www.openoffice.org/download/source/
You could feed the code into one of these converters and see where you get to.

Android apps are developed using Java programming language. If Apache re-write OpenOffice using Java then it will be easier to create OpenOffice for Android. However a new mobile friendly UI need to be created for Android.

This will never happen because there are only 10 or 20 part time developers for millions lines of code.
There is a viewer for tiny Android computers: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/android-viewer/
