Using Dell Back-up with DVD

I have the Dell back-up system that allows me to back-up the computer with a disc. I currently having problems that indicate a possible crash. I am wondering if the disc could be used to transfer my existing data in OpenOffice to a new computer. If not is there a way to save the data and then transfer it. Sorry, I am just a computer user ad not a whiz.

It depends how Dell backup stores its data. If you can get into the backup, you should be able to extract and restore the OpenOffice files.

I think that is a question better asked in a Dell forum. Can you post a link to the backup software? if so we might be able to tell you one way or the other.
