Create Folder for pages to send in email

Post by susanc »

I have about 15 pages I need to send in an email.

How do I create a folder with the pages so I can just
email the folder.

I have Windows 7 and Open Office 4.1.1

Thank You.

Drag the files into your mail. My mail program (Thunderbird) attaches the files to the mail.

Thanks for the reply.

I use gmail. Is there a way I can
create a folder in gmail so I can
send the pages in one file without
having to download Thunderbird.
Thanks!

Insert the pages into a document (Copy/Paste) then /File /Save the document, choose MS Word 97/2000/XP format from the dropdown check "Automatic file name extension" and Attach the resulting .doc document to your email (if Gmail allows attachments). If you know the file won't need to be edited by the recipient use /File /Export as PDF and attach the .pdf file to the email.

How can I know without using gmail? You are asking a question about gmail. I would _expect_ that dragging files into gmail attaches them. This has nothing to do with OpenOffice.
By the way: What do you mean when you say that you have 15 "pages"? Do you have 15 files with one page or one file with 15 pages? Do you want to send 15 pages to one receipient or one page to 15 receipients or all 15 pages to many receipients?

I want to put 15 individual files or pages that I have saved in my documents
into one file so I can send one document or file in an email instead of
attaching 15 individual files.

I just need to know how to put the 15 individual files or pages into one file or
document so I can email one file with all 15 pages in it.

Thanks for your help.

You can make an OpenOffice document, then /Insert /File and insert the file of each page into that then send the new file. Easier still may be to make a new folder, drag each file/image into it then use an archive utility such as WinZip and just compress the folder. Then attach that .zip file to your email. The recipient simply expand that .zip file (usually a double click is enough) and can view the folder and files as it left you.

I'll give it a try.

I don't have XP anymore I have Windows 7 and Open Office 4.1.1

What should I save the document in.

Save the document wherever you like, just so that you can find it again. A temp directory or your desktop are good places.

In Windows, an archive utility isn't needed to compress the files. Right-click in Windows/File Explorer and select New > Compressed folder, then drag the files into the compressed folder. The compressed folder is a .zip file.
