[Solved] Security Certificate

Post by johntait »

Keep getting message when accessing site through Google enquiry that there is a problem with your Security Certificate. I know this has happened in the past but surely it puts off new users?

Hi
Sorry not sure what you mean by "date"? The machine itself is about 5 years old. If you mean related security data, then I have McAfee, Trusteer Rapport and Malwarebytes running.

With a firefox browser and a brand new profile (guest account), I go to https:/www.openoffice.org/download/, click the download link, get redirected to a sourceforge server and after 5 seconds the download starts. I don't see any complaints about invalid certificates. Enter address. Things may be different when using a bad browser such as Internet Explorer.

Hello

When your computer does has a wrong time - date you can get security errors.

Be sure that the date of your computer is accurate.

A dead CMOS battery might reset the date to the early 2000 every time the computer boots which will prevent a certificate from being valid, since they have an expiration date and a validity date.

Localhost certificate with a valid date from 11/2/2012 to 11/1/2017

Hi
Understand now but it isn't that. As I said to Villeroy who thought it might be down to Internet Explorer, it only happens when I access site via a Google enquiry. Not worried but just thought I'd mention it in case people were being put off using OO if they were getting that sort of response

The combination of Internet Explorer, Google and "sponsored links" is the best way to get ripped off. What makes you believe that you really get the product you want from a site like win-downloads.com? This is ridiculous.
