Help needed testing pre-beta AOO 4.1

Postby robweir » Fri Jan 17, 2014 4:20 pm

There is an old joke, "Everyone talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it". The same can be said about software quality. But now you have the chance to change the weather, not just talk about it, if you can help with AOO 4.1 testing over the next few weeks.

We are around 15% complete with an aggressive testing plan for our next release. We have 945 test cases remaining, to test on Windows, Mac and Linux. The goal is to complete these tests before we have a beta release.

If you can help, you can read more here: http://markmail.org/message/rbl7l3aosxiaqeqp

Send a note to qa@openoffice.apache.org to get started.

Yuzhen Fan on http://markmail.org/message/rbl7l3aosxiaqeqp posted the following 4 links:
[1] https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/dis ... e+Planning
Thanks for this link. Always nice to read the schedules for this project.
[2] http://aootesting.adfinis-sygroup.org/index.php
A log-in form, a registration form and a GNU GPL link without the faintest hint what it is good for? Are you kidding?
[3] http://ci.apache.org/projects/openoffice/
Here we can actually download some packages for testing.
[4] https://issues.apache.org/ooo/
We can not have enough issue tracker links.
---------------------------------------------------------
I downloaded and and extracted the 64-bit deb packages, close my AOO 4.0.1 and run dpkg -i *.deb which overwrites AOO 4.0.1 without warning before it fails with:
Code: Select all   Expand viewCollapse view
> Error when processing of
>  openoffice-core01_4.1.0-1_amd64.deb
>
> soffice
>> /opt/openoffice4/program/soffice.bin: symbol lookup error: /opt/openoffice4/program/libsvxcore.so: undefined symbol: _ZThn1192_NK18SvHeaderTabListBox11GetRowCountEv
>

OK, no more AOO4 for now but I have enough working ODF suites installed on this computer.
I removed all packages related to openoffice4 and a new try installed a working copy of AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1558977
2014-01-17_04:11:25 - Rev. 1559006

This works for me, however just in case someone is interested in keeping the stable version, here is another link: https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Run_OO ... s_parallel

Now what?

Done. Let's wait. Tomorrow I'll have some spare time for sure.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

That's Testlink, an open source test management system: http://testlink.org/

It helps track the test cases for the Feature Verification Tests, which ones have been executed, which have passed, failed, etc.

There is an overview of Testlink on our wiki:
