Shared files
Are shared files currently supported in Open Office?
Is it in development?
What I mean by shared files is that two or more users can open and edit a file similar to what MS Office does.
I have searched the site and haven't found anything about "shared files" other than the problem with opening files on a shared directory with a server name with underscores, but they have a patch for that. But I haven't seen anything else regarding this issue except for a document which was, I think, written in Vietnamese.

Actually it's not a beta yet.

Re: Shared files
ok - yes...it is a pre-beta...but does OpenOffic.org even have beta releases?
It seems it goes from snapshot to RC without any formal Beta step in between...
So - to rephrase. 3.0 is currently a snapshot build only.

Edit: That masquerades as a Beta release - per Andrew's screen shots...LOl |

Re: Shared files
I know about the calendar entry..I am talking about on the ground...it has always looked to me that the Beta releases are just another snapshot build...but then what would I expect to see different in a beta...I don't know...hmmm, more coffee this morning might be in order.

Re: Shared files
They are deliberately targeting some 20 blocker bugs (so far) to be fixed for the OpenOffice.org 3.0 beta release April 30, so it's not just another developers snapshot.

Re: Shared files
Well...that's a good thing..
But to the point of the question. I haven't tried the shared Calc access, I know that some folks have. Maybe one of them could cover any finer points of the implementation in a topic..wouldn't be a bad subject for someone's Blog either

Re: Shared files
This is great news. Great Great news.
I'll begin looking for some systems to Beta test on.
