Open Office Suite [scam from Bahamas?]

Post by Roger1322 »

Welcome beginner. Please answer all of the questions below which may provide information necessary to answer your question.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which version of OpenOffice.org are you using?
What Operating System (version) are you using?
What is your question or comment?
Does anyone know about the site Open Office Suite which seems to be operated by an outfit in the Bahamas? I almost got sucked into a membership - it looks very legitimate but is obviously a scam.

Scam in what sense? In many cases sale of OpenOffice.org is legitimate and in some cases valuable. The sale of OOo is a frequent topic on the message boards.

For more information, search the boards for "sale" or "sell" or "LGPL"

Please be aware that there is a legitimate OpenOffice software that is not the same as Sun's suite. Trademark issues are the very reason why our favorite open-source software is called OpenOffice.org.

No, AFAIK, this is the reason. It's an automation company.
