Post by whoelzl »

For 64-bit Linux I found only the Debian version.
Is

You may try http://openoffice.bouncer.osuosl.org/?p ... sion=3.0.0
I found on http://download.openoffice.org/other.html

OOops, that is still 3.0. If there is a 3.0.rpm then it should be a matter of time to get the bugfix release 3.0.1.rpm
In the bad ol' times, when there was OOo.rpm only, I used to convert rmp to deb and the packages worked well. The converter is named "alien"

Code: Select all

$ man alien

ALIEN(1p) User Contributed Perl Documentation ALIEN(1p)

NAME
alien - Convert or install an alien binary package

SYNOPSIS
        alien [--to-deb] [--to-rpm] [--to-tgz] [--to-slp] [options] file [...]

DESCRIPTION
alien is a program that converts between Red Hat rpm, Debian deb, Stam‐
pede slp, Slackware tgz, and Solaris pkg file formats. If you want to
use a package from another linux distribution than the one you have
installed on your system, you can use alien to convert it to your pre‐
ferred package format and install it. It also supports LSB packages.

WARNING
alien should not be used to replace important system packages, like
init, libc, or other things that are essential for the functioning of
your system. Many of these packages are set up differently by the dif‐
ferent distributions, and packages from the different distributions
cannot be used interchangeably. In general, if you can’t remove a pack‐
age without breaking your system, don’t try to replace it with an alien
       version.

It is possible to obtain the 64 bits debs in the mirrors:
http://distribution.openoffice.org/mirrors/#mirrors
for some reason, the official download page is always late with the 64 bits packages (both debs and rpms), but the mirrors have them.
