Sending video

I can't figure out how to send a video to someone.

I have the video on my desktop, but don't know what to do next.

I transferred the video from my Canon sr 930 via firewire to Pinnacle 12 (video software) and have saved it to my desktop.

I know it's there because I can open and play it...I now need to know how to send it to someone.

I'm perplexed. How does this involve OpenOffice.org?
