Try the LibreOffice. The installer packages of the LibreOffice contain the PDF-import function by default.

But you must know: the PDF-import of the AOO/LO works in the Draw application only. And you can make some cosmetics only on the non-protected, small (or medium) size, non-pixel based PDF files.

If you want to stick to AOO, try to rename the extension uno_package of the profile or to completely reset your OpenOffice user profile.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the edit button if your issue has been fixed.

The PDF extension is not showing up as an installed extension, which might suggest that an earlier version for OO 3.x was attempted to be installed; this might not show up on the extension manager, but could confuse the installation of the new version. Hagar's suggestion of resetting the User Profile should solve the problem.

The OO has an incredible option for exporting PDFs - to encript the output file.
I have some PDF files that haven't been made by the OO, rather by another program and need to embed a file as is and to export it again but encripted.
Does this LO has the option to export and encript?
Thanks

I never tried it. Try it.
(You can install the LO near the AOO, or you can try the portable versions. (on Windows))
