[Solved] MRI Crashes Office in Version 4

Post by Charlie Young »

While installing 4.0, my MRI version was also updated, which I was happy to see. But it has happened in both Writer and Calc, that if I MRI the current document, then select the Methods, Interfaces, or Services tabs, then try to close MRI, Office crashes. Does this happen to anyone else?

I'm removing the solved tag because the problem has reasserted itself.

Edit: Really solved now.

Hi Charlie,

Just trying out the portable version (AOO 4.0.0) from winpenpack on win7 m/c
before installing full version alongside AOO 3.4.1.

Not installed any extensions or other paraphernalia as yet.
Will post here, if finding any.

I have used MRI with 4.0 for a few weeks now with no problems. I'll mess around some more with it tonight trying actions like the one you describe and report back.

I should be spanked. I let 4.0 install my old user stuff. When I just now reset my profile and reinstalled MRI, the problem disappeared.

My MRI had dysfunctional menus after taking over the AOO 3.4.1 profile. The MRI menus dropped down but the menu items did nothing. I removed and re-installed the same latest version of MRI which solved this issue.
Apart from that, Writer field shading and other less important view options were reset to defaults but everything else seems to be OK so far.

I removed the [Solved} in my first post because the problem has reasserted itself. I'll keep looking for possible conflicts, but a fresh reset of the profile didn't help.

Edit:

Just to be clear, it only happens when I close MRI from the Methods, Interfaces, or Services tabs - if I switch back to the Properties tab before closing it seems OK.

I removed my down level MRI and installed the latest 1.2 version. I now see the crashing problem when closing from the Method or Services tab. I didn't check the Interfaces tab. Strangely, the first time I tried it from Methods there was no crash but it seems to be consistent now.

I could confirm the problem with tab and edit but not with grid on WinXP.
