Language names in English dictionary.

Post by StevanWhite »

Here is a list of languages (and ethno-linguistic groups) unknown to Hunspell.

This is by no means complete--it reflects my preferences. It is a small fraction of the language names listed in Wikipedia. I was shooting for languages with millions of speakers, or which were otherwise interesting to me. (As a North American, I'm interested in aboriginal languages of the Americas.)

I don't know how to officially suggest words for the dictionary. Let this be my official suggestion.

For such request, you need to contact the devs (see the support web page of AOO main site for the ML details) or file a request in bugzilla, see [Tutorial] Reporting bugs or suggestions.

But your question is not that clear: do you want the mere names above to be included in the dictionary by default? A dictionary can't include all the very specific terms of all areas. Choices have to be made and I doubt these are really often used terms.

You can add them to your own user-defined dictionary or you can create a dedicated dictionary for your study area (to be installed as an extension).
