[Solved] Using extension (pubooo)

I downloaded pubooo-0.3.5.oxt which is supposed to allow me to convert a .pub file to a .odp file. How do I use it?

Go to the menu Tools -> Extension Manager and in that dialog click Add. You can then navigate to the location of the oxt file and install the extension.

Then click on Tools Menu/Add-Ons/PubOOo

I added the extension and tried to open a .pub file but I just got a filter selection list and Microsoft Publisher is not listed. Did I do something wrong?

Did you look at the extension page?

It says:

This extension was not updated recently. It might not work with latest versions of OpenOffice.

and

This extension convert recursivly Microsoft Publisher document in OOo format (impress)

...but this not the perfect converter : I don't parse the pub file : I just use Publisher COM component.
So Publisher has to be installed !
Anyway, I think it can be usefull for a lot of people "captive" of Publisher.

The LibreOffice Draw can open the Microsoft Publisher files. I never tried it. Can you upload/link a sample *.pub file here?

I opened a .pub 2003 file in LibreOffice Draw, saved it as a .odg file to the desktop... and (this is the strange bit)... when I click on the desktop icon it opens in *OpenOffice Impress*. When I try and open it via the Open Dialog from LibreOffice or OpenOffice it opens in Draw.

If you can't replicate this you could try selecting all and copying and pasting into Impress.

The free online conversion at http://www.zamzar.com offers quite a number of conversions for MS .pub format.

I have tried Zamzar and it works. I was just hoping to be able to use OpenOffice. I will also try LibreOffice Draw. Thanks to all for your suggestions.
