Base/Record- Cannot Open.

Post by kevs44 »

Base/Record- Cannot Open.
“The document... could not be opened”... “java.io.FileNotFoundException:”

I have been running OO 4.0.1 on two machines- XP and W7. Following recovery from a crash on W7, I get an error message when attempting to open an existing report. Additionally, the spell checker no longer recognises any word. If I copy the database file to the XP machine, Report works fine. I have uninstalled OO and reinstalled both 4.0.1 and the current version. I have reloaded the report extension. I have returned to an earlier Restore point. I am at a loss to think what else to do.

Have you tried resetting the user profile? The problem with spell check generally indicates a corrupt user profile and is fixed by a reset. Instructions here: [Tutorial] The OpenOffice User Profile
OpenOffice 4.1.1 on Windows 10, HSQLDB 1.8 split database

Thanks MTP. This worked. The only hitch, which may be a peculiarity of Chrome, Show hidden files..." does not work, but the path to USER can be found by Search. Spellcheck also works.
