Saving each record in a text file .rtf

Post by petrika »

Hi guys! completely new here.

I installed OO and created a database, table and input some data. 9still testing).

But have a question about 'Reporting': Can I save each record in database as a .rtf file? NOTE: Between the data, I need specific number of empty lines and some sub headings.

I can save two fields in same row? Like 'Name' and 'Age' below'.

I need to create any template?

Ex:
---------------
SUB HEADING1:
Name: Age:
Address:

SUB HEADING2:
Name of company: Year:

SUB HEADING3:
Data

Data
Data
------------------

thank you!

Open a new Writer document and press F4. If you didn't change the defaults when you created the db it should be present as a data source. If so, open it and your table. Select the first record you want in this document using the box to its left. Click the Date to Text icon (it's above the field names) and put the bullet in Fields. Then move the fields that you want from left to right where you can do basic editing to get them where you want them You can also type in your sub heading either here or in the document. Click OK to create the document. When you get it edited to your liking do a Save to rtf format. Now select the next record you want to report and click the Date To Fields icon. Your fields change and you're ready to do a Save As for this one.

How to put an image in header area?

Once the record saved as .rtf file, I need to give these TEXT files to another person. So this image should be displayed on his computer too. (He doesn't have OO on his computer) I create text files for each record and give them to him.

RTF support is very poor in AOO. Better forget it.
