[Solved] Base Needs Java Runtime, But Which Version

Post by JamesJoey »

Base continues to tell me it requires JRE even after I installed it.
I believe I installed the latest version.
Also, can I import data from Access 2010?

Thanks,
James

Version 3 of AOO only supports the 32 bits 6.x JRE, it definitely doesn't support the latest version. Maybe you should upgrade to AOO version 4.1.1.

When I select 'Check for updates' from the Help menu it says Check for updates failed.

Correct, that's an old bug. Try the link in the right hand corner of this page: http://www.openoffice.org/download/

Note: when you have been redirected to SourceForge.net, don't click on the links on that page, wait for a dialog box to appear and confirm that you want to save the file.

Finally installed 4.1.1.
But it's still telling me it requires JRE.
I must not have the proper version of JRE.
What is the proper version?

I have 1.8.0_31, make sure you have the 32 bits version. Also important: make sure that in Tools - Options - Java you actually select a JRE for use by AOO. Tick the small circle to the left of the Vendor name.

Working fine now.
I had the 64 bit version.

Now,
I see no import command anywhere.
What is the best way to import access 2010 table's data?

I see it now.
I needed to connect to an existing db.

Thanks,
