Data entry form in base using dbase
Data entry form in base using dbase
Created dbase & form in OO 1.1. When using OO 3.*, I can register the dbase, & access it w/ 'view data sources' (F4) button, but the form's navigation bar is missing & when viewed, stays inactive (all buttons greyed). The navigation bar in the data sources is active and allows editing. What have I missed?
Open Office 3.4.1 on windows xp
Re: data entry form in base using dbase
In OO 1.1 the forms and reports where linked from the navigator to stand-alone documents. OOo 2.0 introduced the so called "database document" as a container format for all configuration, queries, forms, and reports (and possibly an embedded HSQL database). IMHO, this was the biggest conceptual mistake in the history of OpenOffice.
I don't recall how "old style connections" are handled in recent versions of OpenOffice. All I know that forms and reports are no longer accessible from the data sources but they should be still there as ordinary text documents.

Re: data entry form in base using dbase
P.S. The last version of the 1.1 series was 1.5 (with ODF support and many bug fixes).
You can get it here http://archive.apache.org/dist/incubato ... ble/1.1.5/ and install it as a completely independent application.
For Windows there are also 2 security patches for 1.1.5:
