Grouping Controls

Post by Bugsie1977 »

Ok, I need help. I know it is something simple but I just can not find the right keying sequence.

Back Ground
Building a tracking database related to real estate transactions
One form will track the transaction from new client input to opening escrow, exchanging forms between parties, closing escrow
Using wizard to build forms (I am too new at this to consider by hand)
I have groups of controls (date box, drop downs, check boxes, etc) that are all related specifically to a phase of the transaction.
i.e. All forms/documents to and from the escrow company or all docs to/from the other party.
I added the Group Box to the form.
I added the controls I want to group together in the control box.
Now I want to be able to move the entire group enmass without having to move each control individually.

According to other posts, I can select the Group box (getting the green outer boxes, then right-click in the box and near the bottom of the pop-up, select group. I do this and I get 'No selection possible".

I have tried shift-selecting all controls in the group, to no avail.
I have moved the Group box to the back, to the front, to no avail.

What I am missing??

Thank you in advance.

While in edit mode, select the group box, right-click > Arrange > Send to back
And there is always the form navigator callable from the "Form Design" toolbar.

Thank you for your reply. But I tried that previously (see original post) and I have re-tried it this morning. Again with multiple group boxes.

I send to back. I select the group box, and regardless of right click or left click on "Group" - I get No selection possible.

There has to be an option flag somewhere.

Again, thanks anyway.

Add the group boxes when everything else is finished. In the end, group boxes are decorative elements. The form navigatore allows for selection of any single control.
