Insert non-printable text

I have a large writer file with headings. I need to shorten content. Some of the text I wish to eliminate completey, other I would like to keep, but not print.
The text which should not print should still be displayed on the monitor screen without extra action.
White characters won't be readable unless marked by cursor and these will still take space on paper, this is no solution.
Any ideas?

:ucrazy:
really?

Put the text in a Section and select to hide it.

You can also use a character style with the "hidden" parameter. If you display the non-printing characters, you can still display the text with the hidden setting applied on characters.
That is not true of a hidden section that is completely hidden even on screen.

thanks, I'll try all of these.
I have to figure out how to hide using parameter.
Ctrl+Shift+C another new one - for me.

:-) :)

From memory some text (paragraph?) styles can only be hidden if the option to hide is selected at the time of the style definition - it cannot be added into the style later.
