Xform submission overwriting - how can I control the output?

Post by hallroibeard »

Hello all,

I've created an Xform in openoffice in the hope of creating an XML database from user input.

When I test the form, the data that I submit will replace the previous data - which naturally doesn't help me to accumulate data.

I'd like for the submit button to either

a) append the new data to the old data inside a single XML
or
b) create a new file in the same directory

So far, I've tested the form I created on both Windows and Ubuntu, but both fail(even taking into account that the submission address must change). I've made sure to set the submission field to Replace none.

I've been at this for several days (on and off for the last month), and I just can't get it to stop overwriting.

I have attached a basic version of the final form, in case there is something obvious (to other people) that is missing.

thank you to anyone who can give me a lead,
Robert
