Exporting PDF

Post by ArmedAndDangerous »

Open Office Writer has the function to export a document as a PDF. I'm having trouble with these files being opened with other software packages like Adobe on other systems. Some of these troubles seem to be related to fonts. Does Writer allow exports to embed fonts within the new PDF document?

Yes.

If you check in the option 'embedding fonts', then AOO will embed the used fonts inte the PDF file (depended of licence of the fonts!)...

File - Export PDF - 'General' TAB - 'General' item - Embed standard fonts

The Fonts are softwares. They have similar licences as other softwares have.
The free, opensource fonts will embedded, but - maybe - the commercial fonts will not embedded (tipically the fonts licenced by Microsoft)

You can also select the PDF/A-1a, this is a specific ISO standard for long term archiving for digital documents.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the edit button if your issue has been fixed.
