New to OpenOffice but not office software

Post by Petlew »

I have migrated to Open Office from being sentimentally attached to MS Word and Excel for many years. For technical reasons that I don't need to go into here the MS products have become unstable.

I still keep Word available for the sole purpose of using Avery integrated label software.

Are there any plans for Open Office to integrate Avery Products. I do occasionally use the Avery online service, but it is nowhere as quick and easy to use as the Word option.

While Avery does not seem to be supported, if it's just the ability to make labels, then Writer will do them by default.
Start with File -> New -> Label

Alternatively there are extensions for labels, which might work better for what you're wanting.
My search results are at http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/sea ... order=DESC

As to plans to incorporate Avery, we don't know. Only the developers (maybe) know this information.
Bug reports/issues/feature suggestions can be found/submitted at https://issues.apache.org/ooo
Additionally, I found 32 entries for Avery, with the results at https://issues.apache.org/ooo/buglist.c ... arch=avery

You can also find free label templates for OO at worldlabel.com

They have Avery-compatible products; the templates can be used with compatible sheet.

Lots of different Avery label sheets are available in that label wizard RusselB pointed to.

Which particular Avery form(s) is it that you are missing?
Form ID should be printed on the packaging, usually a code consisting of 0-3 initial letters followed by 4-5 digits.
