Translator for OpenOffice?

Post by chardmony »

I spend a lot of my time translating documents from English to Spanish and from Spanish to English. I have always used Mircrosoft office and when I was stuck on a word, I could open up their translator and or synonims and antonyms and get some help. Is there any such add on for Openoffice? I am new here and switching because I cannot afford to purchase word after purchasing my new computer.

Thanks for any help.

Any of these:

http://code.google.com/p/stardict-3/
http://goldendict.org/
http://www.lingoes.net/

?

Not sure this will work:

http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/pro ... translator

since Google have started charging to use the translation API.

There is preliminary discussion on the Apache lists on implementing a CAT (Computer Aided Translation) module for OpenOffice in some future release. I have no links, but it was quite recent.

Anaphraseus is a CAT in the usual translator's sense of the abbreviation:

http://anaphraseus.sourceforge.net/

I don't think it has the ability to send text to Google for translation; OmegaT does.

Personally I use EuroOffice Dictionary. Writer's Tools has a Google Translate option.

There are some tools on Microsoft office, but I don't trust them, just because this programe makes lots of mistakes, if you need some translations on important topic, try this one- [http://www.bv-translations.eu/lt/kontak ... -vilniuje/]vertimo biuras vilniuje] , just because of the low price and high quality!
