[Solved] Table of Contents BUG??

Post by Inimi »

Hi,

I used open office for a long time, but the table of content feature is a real mess.

I create the standard Table of Contents with the standard Headings.
After I have saved the document and changed some layout information on the headings page style the table of contents forgets about them.
When I reopen the Document, the table of content is gone.
In the new Version even Numbering enabled in the Style information gets lost after save and reload.

I am really frustrated and searches for help with this issue.

Have a nice evening

Günther

Yes, it has been designed like that to avoid troubles between outline numbering and list numbering. For headings, never use that setting or the Bullet/Numbering button in toolbar. Only use the Tools>Outline Numbering dialog.

Could you give more detail about the changes you make? Or attach a document here?

Sry, but for me thats bad design!

I don't have a file ready, because the file I'm editing now is confidential.

Please try just to write some headings and then to generate the Table of Contents.
After you have changed Size and Font in the Headings and/or added some numbering, the table is gone after file reload (with a save :D).
And yes, I'm using the Tools->Outline but exactly this information is gone afterwards.

OS is Linux and Windows
OO since 2.1 or earlier, I don't remember exactly. But this issue is getting worst and worst for me.

I'm working actually under Gentoo Linux with OO 2.3.1.
At home with windows XP SP2 and OO 2.3

What format do you use? Can you describe the exact steps? How do you make your changes?
I think we need a sample file.

Seems to be fixed in 2.4.

I opened this morning the same document in OO 2.3.1 on Gentoo and on a upgrade of OO 2.4 also on Gentoo.
The 2.3.1 Version forgot the Settings on Numbering and Table of Contents generation,
The 2.4 Version still has the settings.

Thanks for your help, I put this issue as fixed. ;)

Have a nice day
