Convert a MS WORD 2007 into Staroffice8?

Post by rudz »

Hey there,Can someone please tell me how can I open a MicrosoftWord document in Staroffice 8?
It asks me to pick up a filter, yet nothing related to MS Word 2007 is available.
Please help, thanks

Will StarOffice be compatible with the new 'Microsoft Office Open XML Formats' - the new file format for the next release of Microsoft Office?
I take literally to mean next release (StarOffice 9, presumably), i.e. not in any update of StarOffice 8. What update do you have? I'm on update 5 and that can't.

Thank you for your reply..
Well, it's update pack number 9.. I actually downloaded it today..
When I try openning the word 2007 ".doc" file, it opens a window asking me to choose the filter, but then no 2007 recognition. There's an option that says I can choose another filter in the tool " Staroffice Setup" but I didn't find such a command.
I read your link, seems I'll have to wait for the person to sed me an older version for me to read it :)
Anyway, thanks a lot
