If I type a few underline or dash characters and hit ENTER, a line all the way across the page or column appears.
How can I delete this line? Nothing I try seems to work. If I copy all or part of the paragraph above the line and paste it in another document, the un-erasable line goes with it.

Re: Delete a line of underline or dash characters
Thanks for your help.
I learned to disable the automatic line function in the help option in Writer:
To disable the automatic borders, choose Tools - AutoCorrect - Options and clear Apply border.
Also, by locating the cursor at the beginning of the line above the line, selecting FORMAT - PARAGRAPH - BORDERS - and clicking the "set no borders" box and "OK" the linne will be removed.
Thanks for the hints you gave me.
