[Solved] Database connections

Post by erik_h »

How do I get rid of a broken database connection in "F4 - Datasources" from Writer.
(Getting annoying error messages each time I open this tool)

Using Editing Database Connections via Settings does not work. The broken one does not show here - only in the list from Writer.

No, not connections. "Registered databases..." from the context menu of any data source or Tools>options>Base>Databases

ok - "connections" was not the correct word,
but am I missing something here ???

- In Writer clicking F4 to show databases causes an error message.
- The database referred to in the error message is showing in the database list.
- Using Tools>options>Base>Databases shows a similar list - but without the databse mentioned above.

Look at screen dumps http://www.haagensen.no/erik/not_registered.pdf

So whats the difference - and how can I get rid of the database reference ?

Here is an idea. Try to add the signaturer_4ark_16.odt via Tools -> Options ->OpenOffice.org Base -> Databases. Open it in Writer via F4 (it should work now). Go back to Tools -> Options ->OpenOffice.org Base -> Databases and delete the database. Maybe this will fix the problem.

Kind regards,

Seemed like a good idea, but......

I create a database with exactly the same name and in the folder as the error message indicates.
Then I just get another database in the F4 window in Writer - with just exact the same name !!

It's correct that the new one also appear in the "Registered Databases"-window - where it's deleteable.

In addition:
When I try to register the same database once more (3rd one) I get some message about name conflict - exists already.
This should of course have happened the 2nd time !! Which is another indication that the 1st one is a "ghost".

Where the heck are these informations situated ?

I changed my data sources which changed this xml configuration file:
~/.openoffice.org2/user/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/DataAccess.xcu
~ is the current user's directory under Linux.

First: Win XP - OO 2.3.0

Didn't fully understand this - but searched for files changed during making and registered a new database.
Found this:
C:\Documents and Settings\erik\Programdata\OpenOffice.org2\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office\common.xcu

Removed all <node>-references to the "signaturer_....." in this file.

Problem solved !

Thanks for all help.
