Currently you can create advanced forms inside OpenOffice.org Writer, with check boxes, buttons, etc. You can even export them to PDF and they work in enabled viewers (for instance Acrobat Reader or some versions of Evince).
In addition you can assign scripts in any language to form events so that when you click on a button, some code is executed. This works inside OpenOffice and can be useful to create and modify text content.

Incidentally, some PDFs have JavaScript code that does validations and autocalculations. It works for instance inside Acrobat Reader. The language is sometimes called AcroJS and you can find its reference here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/AcroJS.pdf

My question is: what about exporting the JavaScript code created with OpenOffice so that it can stay in the PDF and then be executed in viewers? In this way, very powerful forms could be created just with OpenOffice. OO already allows to assign code to events; so I think that just the PDF-exporting mechanism is missing.

Submit an enhancement in issue tracker, or develop code for this feature if you feel this is a major issue for you, and you can do it.
OOo Form and (XForm) export is limited, not export all controls available in OOo, only part of them, or in reduced functions.
OOo is not a PDF editor it can export documents to PDF.
