Hello,

Can anyone reproduce this?

Using the instructions found here http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wik ... a_document, I tried to create a new document from a saved template.

I go to File | New | Templates and Documents; then I clicked the Templates icon. But attempting to click on the appropriate template results in immediate crash of Writer.

It happens every time.

From where comes the template? out of the box after install or downloaded or created by you?
You can try the official version: [Ubuntu] Installing OOo on Debian and Co.

It doesn't seem to matter. I have a template that I created, but whenever I attempt to click on any of the folders Writer crashes instantly.

Works fine for me with my xubuntu box (Hardy). You should try the Sun version.

What is the Sun version? You mean to bypass the Ubuntu OO?

Out of curiosity, why does Ubuntu alter the OO software in the first place?

Sun version is the official one (from the OOo web site). Linux distros use another version, based on Novell build (see go-oo.org) and sometimes tweak the packages (Ubuntu team has split the icon themes in several packages which are not installed by default for example). And these changes (and the feature from Novell version) also introduce more bugs. So better use the Sun version, it's much more stable.

I see you've tagged the thread as solved. Has the Sun version fixed it or have you found another method?
