[Solved] Where to save Label Templates

Post by CAB2k »

I downloaded label templates but don't know where to save them so that the Mail Merger Label maker will find them.

If they are from http://www.Worldlabel.com then they are simply tables with the extension .ott. Put them in MY Documents. You can then open them with OOo Writer and customize them as you need.

Not the same source but looks like they are templates.

I wanted something to supplement the Label Mail Merge selections for Avery.

I have been unable to start with a template & mail merge labels. i.e. not using the Label wizard.

Have you registered a data source for your labels? See this for some help http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/art ... office_org and also http://openoffice.blogs.com/openoffice/labels/. Lots of helpful information in both places.

Thanks Tom.
I have no trouble creating labels with the File/New/Label method.
What I wanted is to add some Avery labels to the pull down in the dialog.

If I go the other route using templates, I find no method of Synchronizing the first label to the remaining labels.
Perhaps something I am missing.

I don't know how to add labels to the built in Avery List. What Avery labels are missing? If your other templates are tables then you have to manually copy the data from the first position to the others.
Edit:
You could use the format tab to create custom labels called with "user" See the format tab.

Yes the templates are TABLES.

The missing label is Avery 8250.
What I ended up doing was to tweak the existing 3X10 until it worked. Then Save As my 8250.
Should be a way to add standard labels to the Label wizard.

I have an Avery 8250 listed. You should have one also.

Wow, how embarrassing.
I was using "Avery A4" and did not scroll all the way to the end of the Brand list to find "Avery Letter Size"
